Polymer Pouch Seal Integrity, Through Transmission
Application Note 801
Seal Voids
Sample & Method

A polymer pouch was imaged using the THRU-Scan.

Result

The blue areas within the seal (gray band) are locations of signal loss, representing voids which block transmission of the ultrasound through the sample. As these voids become larger, they connect and threaten the integrity of the package by providing a leak path. This is an example of a relatively good seal.
