A-Scan
The A-scan is an oscilloscope display of what the transducer sees and is the foundation of creating and interpreting images. Each pulse in the A-scan is characterized by its polarity (positive or negative), amplitude, position in time (which relates to depth in the part) and the frequency content. In standard imaging modes the polarity, amplitude and time data are used. The frequency content within the pulse is used for more sophisticated analyses, such as Frequency Domain Imaging (FDI)™
