THRU-Scan is an imaging mode where the ultrasound that propagates through the entire thickness of the sample is captured. This mode of operation provides an overall shadowgraphic view of the part. Since the ultrasound will not pass through an air space (delamination, crack or void) the blockage of signal is observed as dark areas in this image.
